The Sister Rita Jeanne Abicht Scholarships honor JEA’s longtime treasurer and recognize the nation’s top high school journalists. The competition begins at the state level; each state’s Journalist of the Year winner may advance to the national round. Each year The American Legion accepts nominations for its Eagle Scout of the Year beginning November 1 and closing March 1. Candidates must submit a complete nomination packet to their appropriate American Legion Department (state) so that it is received by March 1.
