Introduction
The Welsh Pony and Cob Foundation is dedicated to charitable, educational, and scientific initiatives that support the breeding and use of registered Welsh ponies and cobs. Its work includes providing educational and research programs for 4-H, FFA, accredited schools and institutions; fostering high standards in breeding, showing, and judging horses and ponies; sponsoring competitions and awards at local, regional, and national levels; supporting research into equine diseases; and encouraging exemplary horsemanship and sportsmanship.

Number and Amount of Awards
Each calendar year one or two scholarships of $500.00 each may be awarded.
Who May Apply
- Applicants must be citizens of the United States.
- Eligible candidates are either high school students graduating in the award year, or students currently enrolled in college or professional school.
- Academic performance must be satisfactory. High school applicants should submit grades for their junior and senior years. Current college or graduate students should provide transcripts through the present term.
Selection Criteria and Required Materials
Recipients will be chosen based on academic record and active involvement in school extracurriculars, community service, and equine-related activities. Applicants must submit:
- A one-page personal statement describing goals, intentions, and reasons for seeking the scholarship. The statement should also note any experience with or interest in Welsh ponies or cobs.
- One letter of recommendation from a person not related to the applicant.
- Academic transcripts as described above.
Award Payment
Scholarship funds will be issued directly to the recipient.
Application Timeline
Applications are accepted from March 1 through July 15. All materials must be received by July 15.
