Hon. Judge Beverly Reid O'Connell Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles Foundation
The Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles (WLALA) Foundation is awarding tuition scholarships to law students who intend to carry on the legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by advancing social justice, equality, and inclusion. Applicants should demonstrate a sustained commitment to issues affecting women, children, racial or ethnic minorities, or other historically marginalized communities.
Eligibility
- Currently enrolled in an accredited law school and planning to be enrolled during the 2026–2027 academic year.
- After graduation, intend to practice law in Los Angeles County or perform legal work that has an impact on Los Angeles County.
- Ranked within the top 50% of their law school class.
Required application materials
- Personal statement: typed, double-spaced, maximum two pages. Address the following:
- Your dedication to matters affecting women, children, minorities, and/or other marginalized groups;
- How you will continue public-service-oriented legal work after graduation, specifically in or connected to Los Angeles County;
- The financial need for the scholarship and the anticipated benefit to your legal training or career.
- Current resume.
- Law school transcript showing grades through the fall 2025 semester (an unofficial transcript is acceptable).
- At least one letter of reference (up to three letters may be submitted).
