Introduction
These scholarships support individuals aiming to continue their education within the Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Refrigeration (PHCR) trades. Awards and funding are dedicated solely to people pursuing careers in this industry.
Eligibility
- Open to high school seniors or students currently enrolled full-time in an undergraduate college program (defined as 12 or more credit hours during the fall semester), or to students attending an accredited education or training program registered with the U.S. Department of Labor.
- If an applicant cannot maintain a full-time course load due to a disability covered under the ADA and/or Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the full-time requirement may be waived; the disability must be verified by the applicant’s university.
- The full-time rule can also be waived for students attending vocational-technical, plumbing, or HVAC-focused training programs (industry-related).
- All awards are restricted to individuals working toward education or credentials in the Plumbing, Heating, Cooling, and Refrigeration fields.
- Applicants must obtain a recommendation from a PHCC—National Auxiliary member.
PHCC National Auxiliary Scholarship Program
- The PHCC National Auxiliary distributes more than $30,000 in scholarships annually, typically awarding over 20 individual scholarships each year.
- A PHCC—National Auxiliary member recommendation is required for all applicants.
Available Scholarships
1. General Scholarship (National Auxiliary)
- For high school seniors or current full-time undergraduate students pursuing education in the PHCR industry. See eligibility and rules for full details.
2. Bradford White Scholarship
- Applicant must be employed by a PHCC National Association contractor member.
- The educational institution or training program must be accredited and registered with the Department of Labor.
- Limited to individuals in the PHCR industry.
3. Ginny Award
- A special scholarship designed for applicants with average academic standing who plan to enter the nursing profession.

GROW Scholarship (National Auxiliary)
- Eligibility: Current and prospective PHCC contractor members and their employees.
- Purpose: To assist with continuing education in non-degree or non-traditional formats—examples include licenses, certifications, or specialized career-advancing programs—limited to plumbing, heating, cooling, and refrigeration industry-related education.
- Application timing and process:
- Applications accepted all year and reviewed quarterly.
- For PHCC-sponsored programs, applicants should apply before beginning the class; awards are issued as a credit toward the selected PHCC program.
- For non-PHCC programs, the training must be completed before funds are disbursed; include the receipt and certificate of completion with the application.
- The deadline to apply for reimbursement for completed non-PHCC programs is one year from the program completion date.

Awards (Paused until 2026)
- The Auxiliary normally recognizes outstanding humanitarian projects and exceptional individual contributions through annual awards. These recognitions are on hold until 2026.
Robert M. Cox Humanitarian Awards (sponsored by PHCC National Auxiliary)
- Honors notable projects submitted by local auxiliaries, state auxiliaries, and members-at-large (in states without an auxiliary).
- Projects are judged in the categories of Image and Recruitment. Entries will be assigned to the appropriate category for judging.

Larry Dore Member of the Year Award (sponsored by PHCC National Auxiliary)
- Recognizes a single Auxiliary member for exemplary service to the Auxiliary, the PHCR industry, and their community; contributions at the local, state, or national level are considered.
