Overview
This memorial scholarship honors Djulbezar and Fehim Etemi, the paternal grandparents of Attorneys Ron and Lou Etemi, who encouraged their grandchildren to pursue education and support their family. The Djulbezar & Fehim Etemi Memorial Scholarship supports Connecticut students who, despite facing disability or illness, have shown resilience, courage, and perseverance.
Who may apply
- Students who live in Connecticut or attend a Connecticut school. Eligible levels include K–12, undergraduate, or graduate/post‑secondary.
- Individuals with a diagnosed learning disability, a physical or developmental impairment, an ongoing medical condition, or other special needs.
- Applicants should demonstrate financial need or hardship (this may be explained in the personal statement).
- Only one entry per applicant; multiple submissions will disqualify any additional entries.
Required application materials
- Personal statement (500–1,000 words) explaining your challenges, how you have addressed or overcome them, and what receiving this scholarship would mean to you.
- Proof of current enrollment or acceptance at a Connecticut school (examples: report card, school ID, acceptance letter).
- Optional: letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or healthcare professional.
- Optional but helpful: medical or educational documentation. You are not required to provide sensitive medical records; a professional summary letter or an IEP is sufficient.
Deadline and notification
- Application deadline: August 1, 2026.
- Winner will be notified by email by August 15, 2026.
