Eligible applicants are New York residents enrolled in or accepted to an accredited U.S. college, university, or graduate program. Applications are submitted using an online form and require a short video that addresses the scholarship topic.

Eligibility
This scholarship is available to students who meet specific academic, residency, and personal-experience criteria. High school seniors may apply if they provide proof of acceptance to a postsecondary institution. Applicants must also have been involved in a car accident and meet the stated academic standards.

Application Process
Applicants begin by reviewing eligibility requirements and creating a video that responds to the scholarship topic. Once the video is produced, applicants complete the online application form and paste the video link into the form. Submitted entries are reviewed by a scholarship committee after the application deadline, and the review process may take several weeks to months depending on the volume of applications. All required materials must be submitted by the listed deadline; late or incomplete submissions will not be considered.

Video Requirements
The video is the central component of the application and should reflect on how the accident influenced the applicant’s perspective, values, and future goals. Applicants should describe the experience, explain how their outlook changed, share how the experience shaped their aspirations or desire to help others, and discuss what “rebuilding the road ahead” means to them. Videos must be original, written and spoken by the applicant, and uploaded as an unlisted YouTube link that is submitted via the application form.
Video Topic: Reflect on the accident and explain how the experience changed your worldview, responsibilities, goals, relationships, or plans for the future.
Submission Format: Upload your video to YouTube as an unlisted video and include the link in your application form. State your full name and the scholarship name in the video or at the start/end of the description.

Terms and Selection
Applicants must meet all stated qualifications and agree to the scholarship terms and conditions to be considered. Certain individuals are ineligible, including previous winners and employees (and their children) of Chaikin Trial Group. A dedicated committee reviews eligible entries fairly and without bias, and winners are contacted by email and announced publicly. Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient’s college or university, and additional verification of enrollment or academic standing may be requested before funds are disbursed.

Selection and Award Notification: Winners will be notified by email and announced publicly; the award will be paid directly to the winner’s institution after verification.
