Applications for the Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation 2025–2026 cycle are now being accepted.
Overview
- The foundation awards at least 50 scholarships each year to support postsecondary education for dependents of U.S. Navy aviation personnel. Individual awards are $5,000; some awards may be renewable.
- Funds may be applied toward trade school certificates, community college, or undergraduate study at four-year colleges/universities. Awards are restricted to tuition and mandatory fees at accredited institutions only.
- Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement, community service, extracurricular involvement, and character. To ensure impartial review, applicants’ identifying information is redacted for a blind selection process.
Ineligibility
- Applicants whose tuition and mandatory fees are completely covered by other institutional scholarships, ROTC funding, or Post-9/11 GI Bill/Yellow Ribbon benefits are not eligible.
- Students enrolled at U.S. service academies are also ineligible.

- October 1: Pre-qualification opens
- February 1, 5:00 PM EST: Deadline to submit pre-qualification
- March 1, 5:00 PM EST: Deadline to submit full application

Eligibility — Who May Apply
Eligible applicants are dependent children, grandchildren (new for this year), and spouses of U.S. Navy personnel (active duty, retired, honorably discharged, or deceased) who have served in U.S. Navy aviation.
1) Dependent Children
- Unmarried (natural-born, adopted, or stepchildren) and no older than 23 in the application year
- High school graduate or graduating senior from an accredited school or homeschool equivalent, or a current college/trade school student
- Must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a full-time student (minimum 12 credits per semester) at an accredited institution
2) Dependent Spouses
- May apply if enrolled or planning to enroll at an accredited institution as either full-time or part-time students
- Minimum course load: 6 credits per semester
3) Grandchildren (NEW for 2025–2026)
- Unmarried (natural-born or adopted) and no older than 23 in the application year
- High school graduate or graduating senior from an accredited school or homeschool equivalent, or a current college/trade school student
- Must be enrolled or plan to enroll as a full-time student (minimum 12 credits per semester) at an accredited institution
Special Note
- Any spouse or child (natural-born, adopted, or stepchild) of a sailor who died while on active duty serving in a U.S. Navy aviation command may be eligible regardless of the deceased sponsor’s length of service.
