Statement of Purpose
The American Hackney Horse Society Foundation Scholarship exists to financially assist an incoming college freshman who shows demonstrated financial need, a strong connection to the Hackney industry, and a record of academic achievement.
AHHS Foundation Scholarship — $2,500
The AHHS Foundation will award a one-time $2,500 scholarship to a qualified high school graduate. Selection will be based on: academic performance, evidence of financial need, extracurricular involvement (including community service), active participation with Hackney horses and/or ponies, and the strength of personal references. Applicants may also be asked to participate in an interview.
Who may apply
Incoming college freshmen who meet the Foundation’s criteria listed above.
Required materials and deadline
To be considered, applicants must submit a completed application form, letters of reference, and a photograph suitable for publication. All of these materials must be received by July 15 of the year the applicant will enter college. Refer to the application checklist for a full list of required items.
Payment and conditions
The $2,500 scholarship will be paid directly to the recipient’s accredited college, university, or other institution for educational expenses. The scholarship is a single one-time award and will not be renewed.
Confidentiality and final decisions
All application materials will be treated as confidential. Applications will not be returned to applicants. The Scholarship Selection Committee’s decision is final.
