Overview
The Helen Gee Chin Scholarship Foundation supports students who combine sustained training in Chinese martial arts with strong academic and community involvement. Below are the baseline qualifications and how recipients are chosen.
Who is eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following minimum requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen or hold lawful permanent resident status.
- Have studied Chinese martial arts (examples: Kung Fu, Wushu, or Tai Chi) for at least five years.
- Maintain a grade average equivalent to a B or higher.
- Be enrolled at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire academic year for which the scholarship is requested.
How recipients are chosen
Award decisions take into account martial arts experience and accomplishments, scholastic performance, a written essay, and demonstrated participation and leadership in school and community activities.
