Beaufort County Farm Bureau Scholarship — $1,000 (one award)
Overview
Each year the Beaufort County Farm Bureau presents a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified student who intends to pursue a degree in agriculture or an agriculture-related discipline. The program exists to help young people from Farm Bureau member families in Beaufort County with education expenses and to encourage development of the skills and leadership needed for careers in agriculture, civic life and public service.
Who is eligible
- Applicant must be from a Beaufort County Farm Bureau member family. (For membership details, call the county office at 522-0031.)
- The award is open to graduating high school seniors and to college students (undergraduate or graduate) who are enrolled in an agricultural or agriculture-related major.
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. A certified copy of the most recent transcript must be included with the application.
Award specifics and renewal
- One $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually.
- Funds are applied to the recipient’s tuition, required books, and lab fees at an accredited two- or four-year college or a graduate institution.
- The scholarship may be renewed in subsequent years if the recipient reapplies and is approved.
Selection process
- Candidates are evaluated on character, demonstrated leadership, and commitment to agriculture or related fields.
- A selection committee from another South Carolina Farm Bureau county will make the award decision in accordance with guidelines established by the Beaufort County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. The committee’s decision is final.
- The Beaufort County Farm Bureau Board of Directors retains the right to change or add to these guidelines.
