History
The scholarship effort began in 1996 when the Global Automotive Aftermarket Symposium (GAAS) started providing scholarships for students pursuing aftermarket careers. The application and review process moved entirely online in 2004. In 2008, additional donors began distributing their awards through the same application system. Management of the program transferred to the University of the Aftermarket Foundation (UAF) in 2016. Since its inception, GAAS, UAF, Women in Auto Care, and numerous partner organizations have awarded more than 5,000 scholarships.
