The Commission is providing scholarships to minority students, specifically Black and Hispanic/Latinx individuals, who have plans to become teachers in an accredited Indiana school after graduation. Robert Hawkins, born in Sullivan, Indiana in 1919, began his journey at Indiana State University in 1937. He was a recipient of the Harold Bright Scholarship, which recognized his exceptional skills in clarinet performance and student conducting.
